Miriam Flemming Award
This award has been created by the Flemming Family in loving memory of their daughter and sister, Miriam Flemming.
Miriam (BA’08) was a talented artist whose creative spirit shone brightly throughout her life. Her artistic pursuits were complemented by a meaningful career in public service. Miriam dedicated herself to improving the lives of others through her work with the Government of Ontario and the Lambton County Ontario Works program. Her commitment to people was as deep as her passion for the arts.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Miriam had a profound love for different cultures, which often inspired her artistic expressions. She leaves behind her beloved life partner and son, who remember her with great affection and pride. Miriam's legacy is one of creativity, dedication, and unwavering love. This award honours her memory and the positive impact she had on those around her.
The Miriam Flemming Memorial Award grants $1,000 to one student each year. It is awarded to the student entering their first year of university, pursuing a BA in English or Visual Arts, who has a GPA over 80% and demonstrates the highest financial need.
